Jarmo Eskelinen is chief innovation and technology officer at Future Cities Catapult, where he helps accelerate Future Cities Catapult’s ideas to market, brings together potential partners and collaborators and is constantly striving to innovate across the many challenges that we face in the urban sector. His team bring together businesses, universities and city leaders so that they can work with each other to solve the problems that cities face. Previously, he was the CEO of Forum Virium Helsinki, the innovation lab of the City of Helsinki, Finland, from 2006 to 2016. Prior roles include the executive director of the Media Centre Lume of the Aalto University and program director of the Helsinki 2000 European Capital of Culture. He is council member and former president of the European Network of Living Labs (ENoLL), a vice-chair of the international Open & Agile Smart Cities network and regularly advises the European Commission and other policy makers in (smart) city related issues.
