Jan Bessell

Jan Bessell is a Strategic Planning Advisor with significant experience of examining and advising on major infrastructure projects. She also has wide ranging experience of the development plan process and major commercial, residential and regeneration projects, including planning strategy and detailed consenting in sensitive historic built and landscape environments, policy promotion, strategic and environmental impact assessment, and planning performance agreements. She is passionate about planning and sustainability as well as engagement and access for all in delivering positive planning outcomes and living purposeful environments. She has been recognised as one of ‘the most influential women in UK planning’. She is on Council of the National Infrastructure Planning Association, is a Fellow of the Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI) and sits on the International Committee. She is also on the Partnership Accreditation Board for University of West of England and continues to be engaged with Planning Aid, as well as the Building with Nature Standards Board.
