Knowle West was the future of housing 100 years ago when it was founded as the ‘5,000 island forest’ – 5,000 new homes built on a hill on the edge of Bristol all designed on garden city principles. It may yet prove to be the future of housing again as this working class estate experiments with new – citizen-led – approaches to affordable housing and meeting community needs. This guided walk includes beautiful vistas, chats with local people and a tour of the first prototype citizen-led home. There’ll also be tea and cake. The walk will meet at Knowle West Media Centre.
In association with We Can Make – a collaboration between Knowle West Media Centre & White Design.
