We have seen a global movement of playful city interventions which fuse art, technology and urban innovation to engage with citizens and reclaim public space. An international group of artists, producers, academics and policy makers – including Pascale Daigle (Quartier des Spectacles Partnership), Inua Ellams (Midnight Run), Daniel Hirschmann (Hirsch and Mann), Hilary O’Shaughnessy (Watershed) and Jen Stein (University of the West of England) – share some practical insights from their work and discuss the environmental and cultural concerns they must address in very different places.
Part of Making the City Playable, a day of events exploring the theme of the Playable City and how public space, creativity and imagination combine to create unexpected interactions and a new kind of dialogue.

We endeavour to hold events in venues that are accessible to all. Watershed’s cinemas and event spaces are all located on the first floor which is accessible via the lift located in the main entrance foyer at Box Office. Once on the first floor there is level access to all areas. The venue has a hearing loop system. BSL and live captioning will accompany all speakers in this session. If you have specific access concerns it is advisable to contact the venue direct.
We sometimes film and photograph events. Please let us know if you do not wish to be filmed or photographed.
